The Rotary Foundation, which turns donations into grants that fund the work of members and partners around the world has been instrumental in helping communities. We bring business people together to solve problems. One of our major contributions has been towards eradicating polio. We're almost there.
The Rotary motto is: Service Above Self
The main objective of Rotary is service; the Rotary motto is SERVICE ABOVE SELF — in the community, Nationwide, and throughout the world.
Community Service

Here in the Valley we have been involved in the restoration of Rotary Storyland and Playland, an inter-disciplinary room at Hinds Hospice and our on-going, Chocolate Run at Woodward Park. We have sponsored and participated in providing holiday meals for the residents at Masten Towers providing low income housing for the elderly. For over 15 years the club has purchase, assembled at delivered and Holiday Food baskets for Fresno families. More recently we have partnered with Cambridge High School to provides food baskets for the families whose children attend school there. We also support the ongoing Student of the Month and College Scholarship Awards to deserving students at Cambridge. For the 16th year in a row, we are proud to have put on the annual Prom for students at Rata High School.

While we contribute and participate in many national and international projects, it is the local projects where we often are the sole sponsor that we see and feel the immediate results.

We participate in the Dictionary Project, which distributes Dictionaries for all 3rd graders.
International Projects

Our international projects include providing medical supplies and equipment to a children's hospital in Romania. We participated in medical and economic missions to Siberia. Internationally, Fresno Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation has contributed to the End Polio Now campaign. Rotary International has been at the forefront of efforts to eradicate polio worldwide. Additionally, funds have been provided to support a micro lending program in Ecuador. Micro lending programs have shown to be very effective in helping community members; especially women start small businesses which increase the standard of living for their families.
Rotaplast, a program Rotary International sponsors sends volunteers into third world countries to educate families and communities about clefts of the lip and palate and provides free operations and therapeutic follow-up and has been supported by the Fresno Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation. For several years, the Foundation has supported a local dentist to travel to Guatemala with a team of dentists to provide dental care to people who would otherwise have no access to care.

Avenues of Service

We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity.
  • Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.
  • Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.
  • Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest.
  • International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
We work together to create positive, lasting change in our Community and around the world.
